¡Hola, amigos! IT’S FINALLY HERE!!!!
The time has come for Brian and Sarah to seal the deal, marriage style. They know their friends and family have been patiently waiting for the big day! And what a day it will be! What better way to celebrate than with a warm, dreamy, coastal vacation during the cold of month February. Can you think of a better place to celebrate tying the knot than in their favorite tropical getaway? Cozumel is nestled right in the heart of the crystal blue Caribbean Sea and truly has something for everyone. There will be plenty of beach chairs for lounging and bottles of champagne for popping!
All that is missing are your lovely faces.
There is a full weekend fiesta planned for anyone that would like to partake in an extended beach vacation, but please don’t feel pressured to attend every event.
Make sure to RSVP to any parties you’re bringing your party pants for by 11/11/24.
See you at the beach!
It was the Friday after Thanksgiving break before 2019, when mutual friends encouraged us to attend a party to met as a sort of blind date. Brian arrived late, after another date and wasted no time asking every girl at the party, “who was running the Dallas marathon?”. It was clichè and romantic, but I still didn’t know who he was. So, similar to a sales call, I hesitated and slowly raised my hand. He cornered me! We chatted outside for what seemed like 5 minutes, but quickly turned into a half an hour. And to my surprise, he was as charming as he was handsome(even a few drinks deep, haha). A friend at the party was fostering a 6 week old puppy that ended up in being babysat in Brian’s arms all night. Major bonus point for him. He asked me to play beer pong, with the puppy in his arms, and we absolutely crushed the next few games. Bonus points again! In that moment, a text was sent, “guys… I think I met the one”, and the rest was history.
Two months later, I was faced with an impossible decision. I had just won an all-expenses-paid work trip to Breckenridge. I REALLY wanted to invite Sarah, but was paralyzed with the fear of whether or not it was too soon. I didn’t want to come on too strong and scare her off, but I couldn’t imagine going without her.
As if the universe knew exactly what I needed in that moment, I received a text. It was a meme from Sarah with an older couple in matching Hawaiian shirts at the airport with the words “couple goals”. That video gave me an idea… One week later, the package arrived. I had our matching Hawaiian outfits ready for the road. Sarah was shocked and impressed. The group chats went crazy. I could tell this was a good move.
Colorado was a blast and we survived our first trip together. It was also both our first times seeing real, rocky mountain snow. We were hooked after experiencing the high-altitude vibes.
It was a few years before I realized the magnitude of this trip and how it would soon bring us to back to Colorado together, but this time as residents. I’ll always remember Breck being the place I won Sarah over. In my mind, that trip sealed the deal.

Do I need a passport?
Yes! You will need a valid passport that does not expire within 6 months. Current processing times are taking longer than usual (6-10 weeks), so make sure you check on your whole parties passport early. We would hate to miss you!
First time to Mexico, anything to know upon arrival?
Avoid the time share salespeople in the airport at all cost. You will literally run the gauntlet of them as you exit the terminal after customs. They are only in the airport not outside, so once you exit you are home free. Just smile, say no and keep walking! Unless you want to buy a time share?
Do I need an international phone plan?
No! When traveling in Mexico, your phone will work same as it does within the United States. You will not need to pay any additional roaming charges or fees with most carriers. Keep in mind, roaming may be at 2G speeds.
What is the weather expected to be?
The island enjoys a mild climate with average high temperatures hovering around 83°F, and the nights are comfortably cool at about 68°F. This balance of warm days and cooler evenings makes it ideal for both beach activities and night time festivities. Humidity is low and legend has it you may even want a light sleeve on some evenings.
Do I need to rent a car/jeep?
No, but you certainly can! Car Rental suggestions are listed under the Travel tab. The main issue with renting is parking downtown is very hard to find. Be sure to explore your nightly parking options before booking.
Can I take Taxi’s everywhere during my stay?
Yes! And they are pretty affordable and reliable.
Are Taxi’s safe?
You betcha! Tourism is a main form of income for Coz, so you won’t find any funny business happening here. Just always confirm your ride total before agreeing to ride.
How much should a typical cab to or from downtown to the hotel cost?
$5-$15 USD is usually the going rate. Just move on to the next one if the price offered is outrageous. Trust me there will be more!
Forgot something at home?
No problem! The Mega is their version of Walmart and will most likely have any missing items you might need!
Need snacks and filtered water?
Find the nearest Oxxo (Cozumel’s 7-11) and enjoy!
Can I drink the water at my hotel?
NO. Most all hotels provide bottled water bottles at your bathroom sink, it is advisable to brush your teeth with the provided purified water. Everyone, including locals, drink purified. Restaurants serve purified water and ice.
Any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us! We love Cozumel so much and want to help make your trip go as smooth and unforgettable as possible.
